John soon developed an affinity for optometry and qualified an optometrist in 1985 at the age of 50! He retired to Wales in his sixties and still talks fondly of those years in practice.

In 1981 just a little further up the High Street a small shop seemed ideal to start an Optometry practice. It was essentially two rooms that was soon quite busy and a little squashed at times! Much larger premises became available in 1988 and this is where you will find us today. The expansion of the premises did not stop there; as the practice grew so more rooms were added allowing it to develop into the modern state of the art practice that you see today. We hope you like the comfortable bright waiting area with lots of natural light.

I just want to say a big thank you for persuading me (even when on holiday!) to have the eye surgery & referring me to James Ball! It's now a week after my second eye being done and even after the first eye I found it surreal to be able to see when I woke up on a morning! As the song goes, "I can see clearly now" for the first time in my life & apart from my heart surgery it's been the best thing I have done in my life thanks to your encouragement!James is charming with a very caring manner & voice and the actual surgery was unbelievably comfortable - never felt a thing!

Eye Exams
Report
Our optometrists work within a flexible appointment system to ensure they have the time needed to fully understand your visual needs. At the start of the eye exam we will talk about how you are finding your eyes and vision, what work or hobbies you do and also about any health issues and medication.
