Walk past our building on King Street and you may be forgiven for thinking that there has been an optometrist in this location for many years. In fact, 3 King Street has been home to an optician since 1933 when Mr Cox opened the doors as Lancaster's first independent optometrist. Welbourne joined Cox in 1974 and in 1993 the practice became known as Welbourne Opticians.

Eye Exams

A typical eye examination will last approximately 30 - 40 minutes. When you arrive at Welbourne Opticians you will be greeted by our friendly reception team who will offer you a seat and a drink while you wait for your appointment. When it is time for your eye examination, you will be led to the consultation room where our optometrist will ask some questions about your eyes and overall health.
