Misleading, untrustworthy, and aggressively unhelpful
If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Online Opticians UK has been appalling from start to finish.
I ordered a reglazing service on 2nd January 2025 after calling the company and being told their Transitions lenses were Transitions Gen S. This is also what their website strongly implied their dedicated Transitions page clearly promotes Gen S as their baseline and lowest-priced Transitions lens at 49, with no mention whatsoever of any other variant being supplied for reglazing. The dropdown menus and pricing for both new glasses and reglazing are identical. Why would anyone reasonably assume theyre receiving a different, inferior product?
I followed up in writing immediately after placing my order to confirm the lenses were Gen S and received no reply. I contacted them again when the lenses arrived over a month later, concerned about how poorly they performed, and again no reply. After chasing them repeatedly for months, I was finally told (in June) that they were not Gen S lenses and that this was somehow my fault for misunderstanding the ordering process.
Let me be clear: this is misrepresentation by omission, plain and simple. They had every opportunity to clarify when I asked and instead stayed silent. Even worse, when I confronted them with proof that the Gen S page existed on their website at the time of ordering, they falsely claimed it had only been added recently, and then hung up on me. That kind of gaslighting and dishonesty speaks volumes about their customer care.
Eventually, they told me not to contact them again and threatened me with "harassment" for trying to resolve a legitimate complaint one that could have been settled months earlier had they communicated transparently.
Ive submitted a formal complaint and have opened a PayPal dispute. Im sharing my experience here to warn others: if something goes wrong with your order, you will likely be ignored, blamed, and treated with hostility even if youre completely reasonable.
Save yourself the stress. Spend your money somewhere else.
