Punch Opticians Patients attending any of our optician practices will receive a consistently attentive and approachable service. As independent practitioners, we are not constrained in the time we allocate to consultations, enabling us to focus fully on individual needs and to recommend products we judge most appropriate for optimising vision.

Ownership of the practices transferred to the present proprietors in 1989. Drawing upon their professional optical backgrounds, they established a service philosophy focused on high-quality patient care, which remains central to our approach. We conduct both NHS and private eye examinations, supported in two locations by OCT imaging systems. Each examination is carefully adapted to the patient, allowing us to support all age groups, from children undergoing their first assessment to older individuals requiring enhanced monitoring. We maintain a broad selection of designer frames suitable for varied preferences and budgets, with trained dispensing staff providing guidance on frames and lenses. Additionally, we offer advice on contact lenses from a range of manufacturers and act as an approved MiYOSMART myopia management reseller. Our commitment to consistent quality and patient-centred service underpins every aspect of our work. We strive to ensure a welcoming and professional experience for all who visit us.

Hyperopia
Report
In Hypermetropia (long sightedness), the eye is shorter than normal or the cornea is too flat, so that light rays focus behind the retina. Light rays from close objects such as pages of a book cannot be focused on clearly by the retina. Someone with hypermetropic eyes may find their vision is blurred when looking at objects near to them, and for vision to be clearer when looking at far away objects.
Presbyopia
Report
When we are young, the lens in the eye can change its shape allowing us to focus on near objects. This condition is called presbyopia and is a normal part of ageing. Presbyopia is usually first noticed by difficulties reading in low light. Often, you may find it will take longer for eyes to refocus from reading to distance and from distance to reading.
