I made sure to read reviews for this here as I was hesitant to even have a look due to the racial difference and local area. Despite this, I booked over the phone as I enquired about looking for new frames. I've been wearing glasses my whole life. When I entered I asked about a bait of 300 plus frames and up til now the store has not called back. They told me that I would receive a call for availability on a frame I really wanted and still have not had any word.

No voicemail or anything. They stated I could use my current prescription for most framesI thought local opticians would be better but I wouldn't shop here. I must be a fool to be waiting weeks for an update. Don't say you're going to do something, put it on your screen for a call back and then don't.

It's rare that a chore like going to the opticians is a pleasure but that is the case when the opticians is Paine and Hunter! Lovely people! Great frames! Opposite Marks and Spencer foodhall and next to a great coffee place. And you can go to the iconic Dulwich library on the way home. I have been coming here for decades, trendy soho type frames but cheaper and nearer my house. All round excellent awesomeness.

Can't think why it's taken us so long to make this our go to Optician! Great all round experience old school warmth and fantastic service.

This is without a doubt the best opticians and infact the best service i have recived by a retailer in general. I work close by at a local estate agents, anytime i have been in need, the team here have been nothing but outstanding, from repairs to giving me honest advice on frames that suit me, not neccasarily the most expensive pair, just the pair that looks the best, the trust i have for this company when i walk in is as high as it can be.

Today again i had broken my glasses and they helped me on the spot replace a lens on an old pair to keep me going when all othe companies had failed to help me, this is whilst they are repairing my other glasses and sending them off for me. Fantastic people, fantastic company, and even if i moved to scotland i would still travel to them.

The staff here are lovely and the eye examination was thorough and conducted sensitively. In these times we are thinking a lot about hygiene and proximity; in this area, 'Paine & Hunter' excel: the shop was 'covid compliant' and the staff clean equipment and rooms after use, very good. Highly recommended in my opinion.

I had problem with a optical retailer and a love one suggested Paine and Hunter. Initially, I thought that due to the racial difference, they will be snobbish and stereotype but they were rather like my day-to-day next door friendly store. The optician was competent and friendly. I will also say they offer diverse and inclusive service. Laura was helpful in choosing the frames and there were a couple of price-friendly frames.

Her dad understood my accent (even when I was couple of steps away from him, trying to be discreet by whispering to the staff in front of me ). My needs as a person with dyslexia & dyspraxia were put into consideration. Though there was one hiccup, which they took steps to rectify asap and even offered good gesture. They provide consented information.

Extremely friendly, helpful and professional, the team here couldn't do more to ensure you get glasses which you love and which suit you. They clearly know their stuff about choosing glasses, offering expertise about different shapes and fit for your face and personal style. I particularly like that they give honest (but very polite!) feedback on what suits you and are never driven to recommend the most expensive options or something unsuitable just to make a sale.

They have a great range of glasses and price points for everyone. The eye test itself is always very thorough and well explained and the staff, both focusing on glasses and contact lenses, are excellent - nothing is to much trouble and you never feel rushed or pressured. The friendly, informal atmosphere will no doubt benefit anyone who is slightly nervous too. I've been going to Paine and Hunter for nearly 13 years now and can't imagine going elsewhere. Highly recommended.

For twenty years my entire family have been happy customers cared for with vision tests, contact lens check ups, prescriptions and frames. This is the only opticians in the world that truly cares. More businesses should adopt their attitude and their customer service. They always accommodate me and are incredibly kind and genuine people. You will not go wrong if you come to P&H.

Having worn glasses for over 50 years, I can honestly say that this company give the most thorough and friendly service I have experienced in any of the many other opticians I have visited, so much so, that I have not taken my business anywhere else for the past 20 odd years. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, the ophthalmologists are highly competent and friendly.

About 6 years ago, I recommended that my elderly mother switched from her optician, with whom she was dissatisfied, to Paine and Hunter. They have been so patient with her and when she was not well enough to visit the shop, came and did an eye test for her at home. They have a wide range of frames to try on.
