We often take our eyes for granted, we only search for eye related information when our sight becomes impaired. Some eye conditions have various different abbreviations and are often difficult to pronounce. We are building an online portal where you can visit to learn more about different eye conditions.
Optical Illusions teaches us about our visual perception which is indeed an intresting phenomenon. Some people who have perfectly normal vision do not see the illusions, these are for reasons currently unknown. The information gathered by the eye will be processed by the brain, this will give a perception that does appear the same as the object/illusion viewed.

Lesley began her optical career in 1992 and completed her studies at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
She has contributed to the Association of British Dispensing Opticians by serving on their examination board and successfully completing their refraction course.
As a member of the Macula Society, Lesley regularly attends events to stay up to date with the latest medical advancements and emerging technologies aimed at preserving sight.
Over the years, she has managed several practices, but she now chooses to focus her expertise in our showroom, where she is on hand to assist you with all your spectacle and styling needs.
She has contributed to the Association of British Dispensing Opticians by serving on their examination board and successfully completing their refraction course.

Ray joined the practice in early 2013, bringing with him extensive experience from three leading, truly independent opticians in Spitalfields London, Blackheath and Upminster, Essex.
He offers a deep wealth of dispensing and managerial expertise, paired with an exceptional level of organisation that keeps the practice running seamlessly and ensures every visit feels relaxed and enjoyable. Jane O'Connell
Optometrist
Originally from New Zealand, Jane moved to the UK in 1997, where she completed her overseas qualifying exams to practice as an Optometrist. She has a natural rapport with children and is an exceptional contact lens fitter.
Jane has now completed her training to provide Colour Overlay and Visual Stress Assessments along side Vik, further expanding the specialist services available within the practice.
Before joining us, she spent five years at a prestigious independent practice on Fleet Street, London. She has also volunteered her skills on two charity eyecare missions to Samoa and Gambia.
Jane is accredited with the Minor Eye Conditions Service, Community Urgent Eyecare Services and Post Operative Cataract Scheme which are NHS triaged services.

Renuka Verma
Optometrist
Renuka (Ren) qualified as an Optometrist in 2004 and practiced for many years as an Advanced Optometrist with a reputable Opticians where she also gained a vast knowledge of experience with contact lenses and bespoke spectacle lens recommendations .She has also been a supervisor for 5 pre-registration of Optometrists over the years. She enjoys being part of the team she is with and gets involved with training,
Alongside this she had worked under a Consultant Oculoplastics Consultant Eye Surgeon in a private eye clinic which widened her clinical knowledge especially with anterior eye diseases, especially dry eyes and lid issues.

Vik Juggessur

Viks optical training and experience involved working in high street practice and independent practice.
Vik is friendly and approachable, as well as knowledgeable. He is happy to answer any questions you have regarding the health of your eyes or what lens or frame is best suited to your prescription.

Mericia ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. From keeping our frame selection tidy & fresh and well stocked to managing our paperwork and accounts. Let alone anything else Ray throws at her! She plays a vital role in keeping things orgainsed.

Disheartened with all the big optician companies, I visited CVO after a friend recommended them to me and I have not been disappointed. Firstly, its local, no problems with parking and a better carbon footprint! Secondly, ALL the staff are friendly, kind, thoughtful and helpful so on entering the premises your needs are met immediately. Thirdly, there is a good quality range of frames available and knowledgable support when selecting them.
But finally, its the quality of transition from having your eyes tested, to the dispenser and the endless reassurance of having ALL your questions answered and queries resolved that makes this Opticians the place to go. And I know I will be welcome back with any concerns as the aftercare is 2nd to none.

Great experience from start to finish. The team were all very kind and accomodating when i couldnt make a decision on what glasses frame to choose- didn't feel rushed to make a choice like i have a previous opticians. I moved from a chain opticians due to the poor service I received and have been very pleased with the superior service I received from Ray and the team at Chelmer Village Opticians. The eye test I had was more thorough than I had had elsewhere and I felt confident that the prescription I received was accurate. They are an independent opticians that are professional and friendly, helping me choose the right frames to suit me and accommodate the lenses that I need. They have a wide choice of frames at competitive prices but went out of their way to order in additional frames in alternative colours to the one that I liked! Thank you.

Short notice same day appointment. Really clean and relaxing atmosphere, everyone happy to help and easy to talk with. Used to use mainstream opticians but no longer. The whole process felt more personal. Not rushed or forced. Would recommend everyone to try the difference between big high st names experience and a smaller better more customer focus experience. Going back with my son next time.

I am so terrified of having the air puffer machine, the lovely lady calmed me so well. I had so much help choosing the right shape glasses for my face from Ray. The whole experience was professional, friendly and quick. I will not go anywhere else. My children also had there eyes tested, they seemed to enjoy the experience.

I would most definitely recommend this opticians. I was a new customer but i didn't have to wait long for an appointment. The receptionist is super friendly and really knows her glasses! I had lost my glasses so had to start all over again with my prescription, however, the optician was so thorough and explained everything throughout the consultation.
I sat with Claire who went through all types of frames and what I did like was that I wasn't at any point made to buy the designer frames and she was really helpful in keeping my costs down. Despite having the Christmas holidays I received my glasses within a couple of weeks and I am so pleased. What a difference they have made. I am so pleased with the service, highly professional, very reasonable prices, extremely helpful and really lovely staff!

A wonderful & family friendly Opticians. The Optometrists here are extremely good with young children & make the experience very comfortable & not at all scary for them. A wonderful glasses selection including designs from the Roald Dahl classics too. Fitting & aftercare also great. I also use their services & again very thorough & friendly.

Both my husband and I attend Chelmer Village opticians, we have done for a few years now. They are the most professional and friendly team. The eye test is thorough and you are always made to feel at ease. They have a great selection of glasses and are always on hand to help with choosing the right pair for you. In these times they are making sure you feel safe with all their covid secure measures in place. We highly recommend Ray and his team.

I have used Chelmer Village opticians for the past 6Years now. They have always provided me with the best quality care for my eye sight and contact lenses appointments. The opticians are very friending and always offer me extra checks if they think I need them.
Moving on to the staff that assist with picking the right frames for you,, I highly recommend Ray, his an absolute star and no’s exactly what suits my face shape ect.

Really friendly, 1st visit today as have been suffering pains in my right eye, was concerned about it being related to my glucoma, optician was really thorough took photos of my eyes, checked eye pressure and came away feeling assured and looking forward to trying new contacts for stigmatism that will be suitable for my eyes. GREAT SERVICE!!! I am currently living in Manchester however was struggling to find the perfect frames. A friend had recommended Chelmer Village Opticians however the commute was not ideal. I contacted the branch and asked if they could send me numerous photos of their stock and for them to be modelled so I could gauge the lense size after many emails back and forth I found the perfect frame and received them really quickly!! Can not recommend these guys enough!
