Each eye test consists of several stages looking at the health of the eyes and calculating the optimum visual correction. At the end of the eye test, we will explain our findings and give you a copy of your prescription, or a statement explaining whether or not you need spectacles. If appropriate, we will introduce you to one of our Dispensing Opticians who will discuss in detail, the best frames and lenses for you and help you with your choice, or discuss the contact lens options open to you.Although it depends on several factors, including certain health conditions, we tend to recommend adults come and see us at least once every two years and under 16s once a year.

The work we do with dyslexic adults and children is based on the work which was performed by Dr Bruce Evans, of the Institute of Optometry in London, and Arnold Wilkins, of the Department of Applied Psychology in Cambridge. Stage 1 is a modification of a routine Eye Examination. We always start with this to ensure there are no obvious problems that have been missed in the past and, while Myopia does not appear to be correlated to dyslexia, Astigmatism and Hypermetropia certainly are.Stage 2 of the assessment is to look in depth at the binocular vision status of the patient.

Sports vision encompasses all exercise, training and sport. Its aim is to optimise visual performance and safety. We are concerned with what the eyes see, how the brain interprets that information and how the body responds. Sports participants are more comfortable when glare is eliminated, better protected from eye injury when wearing suitable eye protectors, and perform better when visual sensitivity is maximized and visual skills enhanced. We aim to optimise visual performance for every athlete, irrespective of age, performance level or visual needs.

People are different shapes and sizes, having spectacles made to your specifications helps in a number of different ways. It doesn't matter how good an eye examination is in checking the health of your eyes or how accurate the prescription is in calculating the power of the lenses you need, if you don't get the right frame or type of lens you will never see well as you should. We firmly believe that each and everyone of us is an individual with different face shapes, sizes and visual requirements.
