George Ambrose Wheatcroft OBE opened his first practice in first floor rooms at 72 Spring Bank, Hull. The practice flourished and over the years other optometrists joined Mr Wheatcroft and further addresses were added in the area. Currently there are three practices, two in Hull and another in Ashby, Scunthorpe. Eye examinations are carried out by other optometrists and all the practices are staffed by fully qualified dispensing opticians.

This page is designed to provide you with some answers to questions you might have with regards to your eyes. It is divided into two sections. The first, 'Principal Sight Defects', offers information relating to eyesight in general, and the second answers a number of common questions about contact lenses. If you have any questions or concerns about your sight, the first person to see is a qualified optician. They will be able to conduct a sight test to see if your sight requires correction and an eye examination to check its general health.
