When you have your sight test, we check the back of your eye to see how healthy they are. Now offering this hospital grade 3D scan of the eye that can identify problems before it affects your vision. The technology works like an ultrasound - so NO flashing lights or invasive procedures. Most people are not aware how crucial this part of the eye test is because eye health checks can pick up a range of health conditions including diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, macular degeneration and many more conditions.

Our Eye Tests comprise of a Comprehensive and Thorough Examination of the Eyes and the Health of the Patient. We use the Latest Technology that provides more accurate results than traditional techniques. We include many Additional Tests at no charge for which we feel are necessary in providing the most comprehensive eye test. Our appointments last 45 Minutes. Personalised history is asked to provide an insight into your health. To evaluate how well your eyes work together. Examining by a series of questions and ophthalmic techniques such as Ophthalmoscopy to establish if there are any health issues, and how they may affect your vision; such as a Cataract.

In line with current Health and Safety regulations it is now your responsibility as an employer to provide free safety spectacles for all employees who are at risk from hazards in the workplace. Eye protection is a requirement under Regulation 4 of the Personal Protective Equipment At Work Regulation 1992 when at risk in a hazardous area. Employers must provide personal protective equipment that offers suitable protection to personnel who may be exposed to potential health risks. The guidance states that where an employee normally wears spectacles and the risk assessment determines that safety spectacles are appropriate, prescription spectacles shall be purchased at the expense of the employer.

There have been many advances in lens coatings and we are proud to say that we offer them all! Polarised coatings to Essilor Crizal coatings. All designed to enhance your vision that extra bit more with your high quality lenses. Light from the sun contains a spectrum of wavelengths. We can see some wavelengths - the visible spectrum but we cannot see wavelengths such as infra-red and ultraviolet (UV) light. There is good evidence that too much UV light can damage the eyes. In particular, a small area of the retina called the macula can be damaged which affects the ability to read and see small detail.

For those of you who may feel your hearing has diminished over the years, or worried about your child, we offer FREE Hearing Tests to all. Our trained Hearing Specialist works between both branches to offer an extensive range of Hearing aids to suit eveyones price ranges and expectations.

At SELBY & TAYLOR we believe that your children's vision is precious. Regular Sight Tests at a young age are crucial to ensure your child's eyes are developing the way they should be. Without good vision children can suffer enormous setbacks to learning and the development of all their life skills. Many parents do not realise that eyesight can be tested from a very early age and that it is recommended that children should have an eye examination at least by the age of three, or earlier if you think there may be a problem.
