We were founded in 1975 as the sister company to Moorhouse Opticians Ltd. a family company founded more than 90 years ago. We are a small group of six practices, three of them being situated in the South Yorkshire area. It has been the aim of the company to establish and then build upon the goodwill of these practices by continuing the family tradition of developing services to the local community.

From Our Website
Moorhouse Opticians is a third-generation family business, with our sister company having been established for over 90 years. Managing Director - Richard Puttrell - first became interested in a career in optics after a chance meeting with an optician while he was at school. Richard has some significant personal achievements under his belt, including completing the Inca Trail in 2009 and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2011. However, it was the freedom to influence the progress of the practice and the level of care that our loyal patients receive that encouraged Richard into his current role in an independent opticians practice.
As well as thinking about the style and design of frames you would like in your new eyewear, it's essential to also give some consideration to the type of lenses you are going to need too. After all, it is the lenses that will be responsible for improving your vision! Alternatively, you could choose bifocal or varifocal lenses instead - these are split into two with a prescription for distance vision at the top, and one for near vision or reading at the bottom of the lens. Your glasses will be an important part of your everyday life, so naturally you'll want to make sure that they remain in top condition for as long as possible.
If you need new eyewear, the choices you make are significant. These days, glasses aren't just to help improve your vision, but they're an important accessory too that can say a lot about your character and personality. Perhaps you're looking for a smart and sophisticated pair of frames that you can wear to work? Or maybe you prefer colourful and bold designs and would like your new specs to reflect that? You may not even be sure of the shape or tint that best suits your face and features. Whatever your situation, here at Moorhouse Opticians we can help you find the perfect pair of frames for you.
