Products & Services

Extended Examination

The basic Sight Test is only a minimum standard for the testing of sight that dates back to the early days of the health service. Since then medical eyecare has move forward significantly allowing us to diagnosis and treat many more conditions than ever before. Unfortunately, we believe that a basic Sight Test is only really aimed at detecting abnormalities of the eyes and is not sufficiently detailed to provide a high level diagnostic precision required to detect subtle changes that occur in the earliest stages of most eye disease.

At Jones & Jones we are able to offer a comprehensive Extended Examination that allows detection and diagnosis of eye disease at the earliest stage. If required, you will also be offered appropriate treatment and follow up visits.

Contact Lenses

Whether you wear daily disposables or need something more complicated we have the knowledge, experience and technology to achieve successful, comfortable contact lens wear for you. As we are not tied to any particular brand or manufacturer we are able to order the exact contact lens that best suits your eyes and needs. For patients that require complex lens fitting we can arrange access to state of the art computerised corneal mapping equipment.

Had a long overdue visit last weekend and as ever they were so patient and helpful. Ellie helped my to whittle my thirty or so ‘possibles’ down to one and Adrian is quite simply the only person I would trust to refract my eyes!
I’ve been going here since it opened and will continue to - despite the hour and a half journey from llangennith.

Friendly and professional advice. My son has regular check ups and his eye condition has been thoroughly explained and the recommendations given have led to improvements. Staff spend as much time as we require to choose glasses. This has been a welcome change to our previous experiences elsewhere. Will continue to recommend.

Can't speak highly enough of our experience. Took my somewhat apprehensive 4 year old for an eye test today. She was immediately put at ease and had fun with pictures, books and 'magical' glasses all whilst being examined, with an explanation given to mummy all the way through. Highly recommend especially if you are taking kids. Thank you.

From Our Website

As an independent practice we are able to provide you with high performance spectacle lenses from top manufacturers such as Hoya, Nikon, Essilor, Seiko and Zeiss. We have chosen Hoya as our main supplier due to their exceptionally high quality, broad spectrum of products and value for money that seems unrivalled in the sector. As a Hoya Lens Specialist Practice we are able to provide custom made high performance spectacle lenses that are individually tailored to suit your needs. All of our lenses are available in high index materials to improve the aesthetic appearance and reducing the weight.

We tailor the sight test to meet the individual needs of our patients, not all tests are suitable for all patients. This is also available to eligible patients on the NHS. Detailed history will be taken to enable specific areas to be concentrated on, this will include your medical history, current medications (please bring a copy of your prescription with you), previous ophthalmic history, your family ophthalmic history as well as any hobbies, sports and jobs you might do. Assessment of your vision with and without any glasses you may already have.

Glaucoma is the name given to a group of conditions in which the optic nerve suffers a characteristic form of damage at the back of the eye which is often associated with a raised level of intraocular pressure. It can cause irreversible vision loss if left untreated. Fortunately glaucoma is easily treated with eye drops if diagnosed early but despite this it is still one of the biggest causes of blindness in the developed World. If you are concerned about glaucoma or have been identified as being at risk we can provide a NICE compliant diagnostic examination performed by Dr Adrian Jones who holds the College of Optometrists Higher Diploma in Glaucoma which will provide you with a diagnosis and treatment if required.
